Putting the heart into finance

Financial planning firms come and go, but family-run Kellands in Hale has been thriving for nearly three decades and, simply put, isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Having recently celebrated our 30th birthday, we discuss the key to our longevity and plans for the future.

The client always comes first

As Chartered Financial Planners, Kellands provides a holistic, bespoke service, with completely unbiased solutions for clients from all parts of the monetary spectrum. So, what, according to Managing Director Guy Kelland, gives it the edge?

“We always place both the individual clients and businesses we act for at the forefront,” replies Guy. “It’s this personal customer service and quality of our team that’s been key to building our reputation and customer’s trust. Additionally, we have Chartered Financial Planning Practice status – which means the knowledge and skills of the Kellands team is second to none and separates us from competitors and peers.”

Unlike smaller firms, Kellands has the capacity and resources to provide an end-to-end service in house with every step supported by its impressive state of the art technology.

Industry recognition

The quality of service has not gone unnoticed, with a plethora of high-profile awards being bestowed on the firm.

“We’ve won several awards recently,” reveals Guy, “the most prestigious being Money-facts Investment Adviser of the Year 2018. This award is the one that means the most to us because judging was partly based on client testimonials. We were up against some big UK providers and large London wealth management teams, but our service, technology and trusted approach won us this much-coveted award. We feel privileged to be flying the flag for the North West.”

We have also been nominated as finalists for Investment Adviser of the Year and Tax and Estate Planner of the Year, in the 2019 Moneyfacts awards, so watch this space!

No ‘typical’ client

Some people, admits Guy, think financial planning is only for the extremely wealthy or big businesses:

“Financial planning is for everyone,” clarifies Guy. “Value can be added to most people’s situation. We deal with everything from securing an individual a great mortgage deal and helping them provide for their children’s university fees to offering a lifetime’s worth of advice to a large corporation – who, coincidentally, often come to us when they need personal work doing too.”

The future’s bright

Kellands are committed to the future and continually investing in growing and developing the business. A number of talented individuals have recently joined the team ranging in experience including marketing, support staff and our financial planners. Our new hires help to deliver our growth plans, and also plan for the next generation of adviser to ensure we are able to serve our clients for many years to come.

Alongside developing our people, Kellands plans to develop the services and technology it offers further and “always keep ahead of the curve”. For example, Kelland’s clients benefit from the state of the art ‘My Wealth Platform’ – a complete and instant view of their entire financial portfolio. An easy to use platform accessible across all devices allowing clients to personalise and shape their finances at the touch of a button.

Experience the expertise

“Ultimately,” says Guy, “we aim to take client worries away. Financial matters can be a minefield, even a bit scary, so we want to create comfort and positivity, and help to establish a written/visual plan of their objectives and how then to realise them. We aim to delight our clients with all aspects of our work and lead them to a brighter future. Our Friday morning drop-in sessions can be a good starting point – anyone can pop in with a query and free no-obligation advice. They’ve been running for a long time now and are extremely popular.”
