A note of thanks from our Managing Director, Guy Kelland

Read a note of thanks from our Managing Director, Guy Kelland, who tells us his highlights of the year – plus what to expect from Kellands in 2023.

2022 seems to have flown by and Christmas is almost upon us. Although a magical time of the year, there are many people facing difficulties, and we are mindful there are some less fortunate than us.

With this in mind, we have continued to support a variety of charities throughout the year culminating in our current Mission Christmas Appeal supporting Cash for Kids, a charity for children who are unlikely to open any presents on Christmas morning. We have almost reached our intended target for 2022, and I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our clients, staff members, professional connections, and providers who have all kindly contributed to this charity appeal and helped where they can.

This year has been challenging for investors, with the troubles in Ukraine, rising inflation and energy prices, UK political turmoil, and the likely risk of global recession. This cocktail has unfortunately led to all risk-graded portfolios ending the year in negative territory. The predictions are that inflation has peaked and that any recession will be mild, so we are hopeful the current investment markets will respond positively over the medium term.

This shake-up in markets has led to greater numbers of people seeking advice, and our rate of new enquiries has never been higher. Our investment committee is working harder than ever completing due diligence, benchmarking solutions, and looking to add wider value wherever it can.

In addition, we have positive news on a new investment solution that the team has been working on, which will be available to all our clients in 2023.

I am also very pleased that the company has built on previous years’ national award success, winning two Moneyfacts National Awards, a Professional Adviser Award, and recently appearing as one of Citywire’s “Top 100 Financial Planning Firms in the UK” list. I would like to thank the whole team who played a part in these achievements, as well as clients and professional connections who kindly provided some amazing testimonials about the advice and service they have personally experienced here at Kellands.

I hope everyone can have a very relaxing break over the festive period. We look forward to sharing more news with you in 2023.

Guy Kelland, Managing Director
